Silk and Sheep Leather bomber jacket

TheSoloist. silk-lined sheepskin bomber — Miyashita's luxury material pairings on military silhouettes.
When Takahiro Miyashita shuttered Number (N)ine in 2009, the question was whether the sensibility would survive without the label. TheSoloist answered by doing less with more. This bomber jacket pairs sheepskin leather with a silk lining, two materials that have no business being on a military silhouette and that Miyashita combines as though they always belonged together. The exterior is soft, heavy, slightly roughened. The interior is cool against the skin. The contrast is the point: a jacket built to look like it came from an army surplus store but that feels, when you put it on, like something else entirely. Miyashita has described TheSoloist as a project about individual garments rather than collections, and this bomber reflects that focus. It is a single object made with an attention to material that most designers reserve for runway pieces nobody will produce. The sheepskin will age. The silk will wear. Miyashita would consider both improvements.
